Why Homeowners Trust Marshall Homes
Choosing a custom home builder or remodeler means trusting someone with your home, your investment, and decisions that can affect how your family lives for years to come.
At Marshall Homes, we believe that trust is earned through experience, a proven planning approach, realistic conversations, consistent communication, and a team willing to remain accountable for the work.
For more than 20 years, we’ve helped Utah homeowners navigate custom homes, remodels, and additions with a practical, planning-first mindset. The goal is to give our clients confidence in the people, decisions, and planning behind the project, not just build a beautiful home.
Experience You Can Rely On
Marshall Homes is led by owner Chuck Marshall, whose experience in residential construction spans more than two decades. Chuck’s father was a builder, so he grew up around construction. He then went on to build nearly 100 custom homes in Southern Utah, including high-end residential projects at SunRiver St. George.
His career also branched into construction technology, where he worked with companies including BuilderTrend and ConstructConnect before returning to residential building.
That combination of hands-on construction knowledge and experience with modern project management systems shapes how Marshall Homes operates today.
Experience isn’t valuable to homeowners just because a builder has been doing the work for a long time. It matters when that experience helps identify potential issues earlier, understand how one decision can affect another, and recognize when we need to slow down and resolve a problem before it becomes more complicated.
Clear Expectations Before You Commit
A successful project starts well before construction. That’s why we focus on understanding the project before work begins, which includes talking through scope, feasibility, investment, priorities, and the tradeoffs that come with different decisions.
Sometimes an initial idea changes once its cost or construction implications are better understood. Sometimes one priority deserves more of the investment while something else can be simplified.
Those are important conversations to have early. Our job is to help you understand your options so you can make informed decisions with realistic expectations and feel confident in the path forward before we move from concept to planning.

A Realistic Approach to Your Investment
Cost is one of the biggest concerns homeowners have about a custom home or major remodel, which makes clarity all the more important. We believe that investment clarity should be part of planning, not something you discover as construction progresses.
At Marshall Homes, we discuss budget during the planning phase so you can evaluate decisions while there’s still an opportunity to evaluate priorities and make meaningful adjustments.
A bigger investment doesn’t automatically result in a better home. The question is where that investment will have the greatest impact on function, durability, craftsmanship, and long-term use, and making decisions accordingly.
Function Over Flash
A well-designed home should make daily life better, not just make an impression.
That means looking beyond finishes and understanding how a family actually uses their home. How they gather, where an existing layout creates frustration, whether there’s enough storage, whether the kitchen supports the way people cook and entertain, and whether the home will continue to work as the family’s needs change. Those factors all shape decisions about layout, circulation, storage, gathering spaces, materials, and finishes.
It’s also why we don’t define luxury by size, expense, or current trends alone.
A thoughtfully planned home can feel refined without being excessive. We believe that good materials, skilled craftsmanship, and a home designed to work exceptionally well for the people who live there matter more than building something big or flashy.
Communication Clients Consistently Mention
One of the clearest indicators of what it’s like to work with a builder is what previous clients consistently say about their experience.
Across Marshall Homes client reviews, several themes keep showing up.
Homeowners frequently mention:
- Organized project management
- Clear, responsive communication
- Attention to schedules and budgets
- Knowledgeable guidance
- Careful attention to details
Clients have also described Chuck as honest, informative, helpful, and trustworthy.
That consistency matters to us. Any builder can say communication and organization are important. Independent client reviews reflect not just the finished work but the relationship homeowners have with the people responsible for their project.

Accountability After Construction
A builder shouldn’t disappear when the project is finished.
Marshall Homes offers a full 1-year warranty and post-construction support for completed projects. It’s more than a final step in the process. It reflects a simple expectation we have for our work: if something we’re responsible for needs attention, you should know who to call.
Is Marshall Homes the Right Builder for You?
We’re best suited to homeowners who value thoughtful planning, clear communication, craftsmanship, and long-term function over simply finding the lowest estimate.
Marshall Homes may be a good fit for your project if:
- You’re making a major long-term investment in your home
- You want realistic conversations about scope and budget
- You value preparation before construction begins
- You want to understand the tradeoffs behind important decisions
- You’re thinking about how your home will function long-term
- Consistent communication is important to you
- You want a builder who stands by their work after construction
We also understand we aren’t the right builder for every project.
If your primary goal is to find the lowest bid or start construction as quickly as possible, our planning-first approach might not be the best fit.
And that’s okay. We’d rather establish that early. Trust begins with being clear about what homeowners can expect from us, and whether our approach aligns with their values.
Why Choose Marshall Homes?
There are plenty of ways to compare builders: portfolios, proposals, schedules, costs, and reviews all matter.
But before you make a decision, there’s another question worth asking: Do I trust the people and the thinking behind the work?
For more than 20 years, we’ve built our approach around earning that confidence. Trust isn’t something we expect to be given at the beginning of a project. It’s something we work to earn throughout it.
If you're considering a custom home, major remodel, or addition in Salt Lake County or the surrounding area, we'd love to hear your ideas and determine whether Marshall Homes is the right fit.
Frequently Asked Questions
About Working With Marshall Homes
How is Marshall Homes Different From Other Utah builders and Remodelers?
Marshall Homes takes a planning-first approach focused on clarity, realistic expectations, thoughtful decision-making, and long-term function.
Instead of focusing only on what we can build, we consider how the home needs to work, what different decisions mean for the overall investment, and how planning can create better confidence before construction begins.
What Should I Look For When Choosing a Custom Home Builder in Salt Lake County?
Look beyond portfolios and initial pricing. Ask how each builder you’re considering approaches planning, budgeting, communication, scheduling, decision-making, and accountability after construction.
A builder should be able to explain not only what they will build, but how they will help you navigate the decisions required to get there.
How Does Marshall Homes Approach Project Budgets?
Marshall Homes works to align scope, design, and budget during the planning phase, so homeowners can make informed decisions before construction.
We look at how different choices affect the overall investment and help homeowners evaluate where their priorities matter most, rather than treating the budget as a standalone number.
Is Marshall Homes the Right Fit If I’m Looking for the Lowest Bid?
Probably not. Marshall Homes is a better fit for homeowners who prioritize planning, communication, craftsmanship, realistic expectations, and confidence in the overall investment.
Price matters, but an initial number is only one part of evaluating a builder. Scope, assumptions, planning, project management, and accountability matter, too.
What Kind of Warranty Does Marshall Homes Provide?
Marshall Homes provides a full 1-year warranty and post-production support for completed projects. Our responsibility doesn’t end at the final walkthrough. If a warranty concern comes up after you’ve had time to live in the completed home, you’ll have a clear path for bringing it to our attention.

A FIVE-STAR Home Improvement Team
I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Marshall Homes. Chuck is hands down the most organized and communicative contractor we have ever worked with, and with a project of our scale I expected there to be delays or unexpected costs, but everything ran smoothly, on time, and on or under budget. I would recommend Marshall Homes to anyone and everyone who is looking for a dedicated, honest and organized contractor.

Chuck and Marshall Homes are fantastic. We did a two story addition that came out beautifully. He managed the project, came in on time, within our budget constraints, and managed the various pitfalls to be expected with a 60 year old house. More importantly Chuck looks at the details like he owns the home.
“Tim Nieman
We had an amazing experience working with our Chuck on our home remodel! From start to finish, they were professional, communicative, and truly cared about bringing our vision to life. Chuck was especially easy to communicate with—always responsive, clear, and patient with any questions we had along the way.
“Alicia Luptak
Chuck is so great to work with. He communicates great, stays on his timelines, and his subs love him all while staying within our budget. We hired Marshall Homes to do an addition of a primary bedroom/bath/closet and remodel our main living area. Chuck helped with the design, the planning, and then construction. We broke ground in August and moved back in the first week of December. My husband and I are so glad we went with Marshall homes.
“Angela Birrell
We purchased an older home and hired Chuck to renovate several sections of our home. From the beginning, Chuck was professional, organized, and knowledgeable about the renovation process.
“Swai D.
One of the best investments we’ve made was remodeling our home with Marshall Homes. The process was easier from the start because of the in-house design skills Chuck provided. Things were planned out in detail, communicated clearly so we knew when/what to expect, and everything stayed on schedule. I felt very confident and well represented throughout the entire process and we’re thrilled with the results. Phenomenal company to work with!
“Kimber Menssen

“Alisha Daniels
Marshall Homes completed a patio room project at my home. He did an excellent job from start to finish. He was thorough and brought expertise to every aspect of the project. He followed through on everything, set a clear budget, and was an involved manager of the project. He made a schedule and stuck with it!!! His communication was awesome. The project included engineering, electrical, framing, roofing, exterior siding, ceiling work, and painting. All of the tradesman that Chuck worked with performed with skill, detail, and kept the work site clean. Chuck was honest, informative, and trustworthy from the first time I found his number on nextdoor. I would definitely hire him again for any remodel.

“Clayton Campbell
We partnered with Marshall Homes for an addition + renovation project to add two bedrooms to our house and fully remodel our kitchen and living rooms. Chuck was fantastic to work with every step of the way. He's a great communicator and highly organized. Chuck worked with us to refine the scope to work within our budget
“Nolan Sayre
We were nervous about doing custom work since we don't know anything about construction, but Chuck made the whole thing easy. He explained everything without ever being condescending, and he is honestly one of the most organized people we've ever worked with. We finished early, which we didn't know was even possible for a construction project.
Everyone told us to prepare for a nightmare and instead it was a dream. Meghan and Riley were great too, so talented and easy to work with. You can tell they take real pride in their work. We have a home we're proud of now and couldn't have done it without them. Highly recommend Marshall Homes.“Trevor
